Most scholastic or financial graduate student affairs are handled in the Department of Chemistry Main Office (SCL 1).
Keys Laboratory and external door keys may be obtained from the Main Office Staff. A refundable deposit of $5.00 per key is required. Your laboratory door key will also provide entry to the Chemistry Library and the Chemical Instrumentation Center.
Parking Several parking lots are located near the Department of Chemistry. Information on rates, lot locations, regulations and forms are available here. There is a fee for parking during standard business hours; parking is free for students in the evening and on weekends and holidays.
Graduate Student Sounding Board provides a forum for discussing issues relating to courses and recruitment and provides students greater opportunity to discuss problems/ideas with their colleagues.
The McDougal Center provides services and facilities designed specifically for graduate students and postdoctorals. Created in 1997 through a generous gift from Alfred McDougal ’53 and his wife Nancy Lauter, its mission extends beyond the walls of HGS throughout Yale and New Haven. The Center is a great physical space, with the neo-gothic Common Room and Blue Dog Café, meeting rooms, a children’s play area & family resource room, a computer cluster, the Resource Library, the Box Office, offices for the GSA, McDougal staff and student Fellows. Women in Science at Yale (WISAY) is a group of over two-hundred and fifty undergraduate, graduate, and post doctoral fellows who are interested in issues related to science, often ones pertaining to women in science. WISAY was founded in 1999 by three graduate students who wanted to create a forum for females in all scientific disciplines. Their goal is to advance science through networking, mentoring, and supporting women in science.
